Really great photo. I was just getting ready to say “you have your own little Niagra Falls” …. but you already said it. This is just amazing … that’s a boat load of water.
Spectacular view Vickie – just go make a down payment on a place for me. I didn’t realize there was a dam and thought Flathead was totally nature made. Spilling the water makes for quite a scene, but it’s a shame to see all of those KWH’s be missed – TVA had to spill a couple of lakes here this spring.
Flathead is totally nature made by glaciers that got lodged. The dam only raised the level 10 feet and has a hydroelectric plant. It’s on the reservation and , I believe, is partially owned by the tribe and partially owned by the state. That’s about the extent of my dam knowledge . . . I’m sure there is a lot of info out there.
WOW. It has everything.
It’s just amazing, Nancy . . . really going this year with our heavy snow pack starting to melt.
These sorts of marvels of engineering impress the hell out of me.
It’s really impressive (and loud) this year. The paper said over a billion gallons an hour right now. Our own little Niagra Falls.
Beautiful photo.
Thanks, Karen. I loved the contrasts.

LOL – yup! A very large boatload.
By the way, duplicaitng your shrimp/arugula/pineapple/vidalia onion/ platter tonight for dinner. I’ve not been able to get that out of my mind!
Enjoy! It is one of the perfect combinations if I do say so myself.

Tensile…it just keeps going longer & wider for me as I view it.
If my picture can do that, you’d really enjoy a good long gaze at this. It is meditative.
Wow! That’s just amazing Vickie!
That’s what I thought, Martha, so I posted it to share.
Oh Dam!
I’ll say
Wow! This is a stunning photograph!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks – the photo is much less stunning than the real deal.
What a stunning photo Vicki. It’s worthy of framing.
Sam
Thanks, Sam! I love taking photos, so that’s quite a compliment!
Gorgeous photo, Vickie. You captured the scene perfectly.
Thanks, Cathy!
